Recently I wanted to convey some concepts that I think need to be spoken about more at church, and decided that a series of “Public Church Service Announcements” or “CSA” would be a great way to illustrate that.
D&C 161:4B speaks about how young people, as well as the elderly, are to be valued and take part in guiding the church. However, in practice the church’s priesthood is quite old, and the number of priesthood leaders under the age of 50 is startlingly low. As someone under the age of 30, it feels as if our gifts, talents, and insights aren’t valued.
Reminders like this CSA are important to remind people that if you alienate the younger generations, eventually you won’t have anyone to hand the church off to.
